Bright start to the day
23rd March 2019 The Gisborne Herald
Bright colours make people happy and help start conversations about an invisible issue.
That was the sentiment behind the idea to wear fluorescent colours as the sun rose on Makorori Beach yesterday. It was an event organised to raise awareness of mental health, as part of a worldwide initiative run by OneWave.
Gisborne Boardriders Club women’s representative Emily Walpole said they wanted Gisborne to be a part of the global wave to show people with mental health challenges, they are not alone.
Events were held from Norway to New Zealand.
OneWave founder Grant Trebilco said it was time to make an invisible issue visible and let people know “it’s totally OK, not to be OK”.
