Winners - Stoke of the Winter
25th September 2019 The Gisborne Herald, Club News
Story, composition, colour, lighting and vibe were among criteria for the Share the Stoke category in the Gisborne Boardriders Club surf photography contest.
This category, one of two, was about celebrating the joy of surfing with others. Stella Smith captured that, and won first place and $700 in Cash sponsored by Gisborne Rentals, with her picture of young surfers Daizee Rawls (left) and Hannah King.
The 'Stoke of the Winter' photo comp awards evening was celebrated amongst the surf community at the dome cinema. In the second category 'Wave of the Winter' Sean Hovell and Cory Scott won first place for the best surfing shot with a breathtaking photo from Mahia. Both were stoked to receive the $700 winner's cheque presented by 1st Class Decorators.
The night was concluded with the surf movie "Self discovery for social survival" and records played by Ben Wilkinson.
